How to soften calluses and corns without e-filing — pedicure with Soft Blade

15. Okt 2026

Hard calluses on the heels and corns on the toes are the most common pedicure problem. Long e-filing or cutting hard skin takes time and easily irritates the foot. A simpler way is to soften the skin with a keratolytic first — then the hardened layer comes off with a file quickly and without too much pressure.

Which Soft Blade product to choose?

Step by step: gel for the whole foot

  1. Apply the gel to dry foot skin.
  2. Soak the feet in warm water for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Pat the skin dry with a towel or tissue.
  4. Remove the softened skin with a foot file or pedicure tool.
  5. Rinse the feet with water or use the Shelly Universal Neutralizer.
  6. Finish with a moisturising foot cream.

The manufacturer recommends using the whole-foot gel no more than once a week.

Step by step: spot treatment for hard calluses

  1. Apply the 100 ml gel to a lint-free cloth and place it on the problem area, avoiding healthy skin.
  2. Leave for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Remove the softened calluses or corns with a pedicure file.
  4. Rinse with water or use the neutraliser, then apply cream.

Salon version: express foam

  1. Apply plenty of foam to a paper towel and place it on the foot, covering the thickened skin.
  2. Leave for 10–15 minutes; where the foam absorbs quickly, add more.
  3. Remove the towel, pat the skin dry and clean the hard skin with a file or do an e-file pedicure.
  4. Rinse with water or use the neutraliser and finish with cream.

Why a neutraliser?

Keratolytics work by changing the skin's pH. The neutraliser restores the natural pH and stops the product — an important step especially in the salon, where treatments are done regularly.

Note: in case of diabetes, wounds, cracked skin or inflamed feet, consult a podiatrist or a doctor before the treatment.

Soft Blade products are in the Soft Blade keratolytics category, and in sets of 2–10 pieces you can buy them up to 20% cheaper.
